At LGM Engineering, our laser cutting capability is built around an Amada ENSIS fibre laser, supported by an AS-LUL automated loading and unloading tower, enabling fast, repeatable and highly accurate laser cutting across a wide range of materials and thicknesses.

The ENSIS platform uses variable beam control, automatically adjusting the laser beam profile to suit material type and thickness. This allows us to maintain clean edge quality and dimensional accuracy across thin sheet and thicker plate without constant manual intervention, improving consistency, throughput and overall cut quality.

By reducing manual handling, we minimise human error and maintain stable production on longer runs and repeat work, delivering shorter lead times and reliable repeatability for both one-off prototypes and production batches.

We provide precision CNC laser cutting services that support customers from initial concept through to finished components. CAD-driven programming ensures parts are cut exactly as specified, while efficient nesting and automated workflows keep lead times short and costs competitive across one-off, short-run and medium-volume production.

Where required, we work closely with customers to support downstream processes such as folding, welding, finishing and assembly. This integrated approach reduces handling, improves batch-to-batch consistency, and ensures components arrive ready for the next stage of manufacture or installation.

Our laser cutting systems handle sheet sizes up to 3 m × 1.5 m, allowing efficient processing of both small components and large-format parts

Integrated Laser Cutting and Press Brake Folding

Maximise efficiency by combining laser cutting and press brake folding within a single, controlled workflow. We take your designs from flat sheet through to accurately formed components, maintaining precision and consistency at every stage.

Laser Cutting FAQ’s

The maximum single part size we can laser cut is 2990 × 1490 mm, based on standard sheet dimensions.
If your part is close to this size or requires multiple sections, we can advise on the best approach.

We can laser cut a wide range of materials and thicknesses, depending on grade and finish.

  • Mild steel: 0.6 – 25 mm

  • Stainless steel: 0.6 – 25 mm

  • Aluminium: 1 – 25 mm

  • Brass: 0.55 – 15 mm

  • Copper: 0.6 to 3 mm

  • Titanium: 0.6 to 10 mm

Maximum thickness depends on material grade, surface condition and part geometry. If your job is close to these limits, we’ll confirm suitability before cutting.

As a general rule, the minimum hole diameter we recommend is around 60% of the material thickness.
Holes smaller than this may be possible, but edge quality and consistency can be affected.

Example:

  • 10 mm thick steel → minimum recommended hole ≈ 6 mm

  • 5 mm thick stainless steel → minimum recommended hole ≈ 3 mm

If your design includes smaller holes, we’ll advise whether laser cutting is suitable or if a secondary drilling process would be better.

Yes, but only by agreement. Free-issue material must be suitable for laser cutting and supplied flat, clean and clearly identified.

Typical tolerances are ±0.25mm, depending on material, thickness and geometry. If your job is tolerance-critical, tell us upfront.

You should expect:

  • Accurate profiles

  • Clean laser edges

  • Light surface marks from handling or sheet movement
    If a cosmetic finish is critical, let us know before production.

Warping or bowing is slight movement in thin material caused by heat input and residual stress. It is normal in laser cutting and can vary depending on material type, thickness and part geometry. Hot rolled material can also exhibit warping due to residual tension introduced during coil processing and de-coiling, which may become apparent once parts are cut free.

Fine detail is possible, but decorative parts may show witness marks or micro-tabs depending on size and material. We’ll advise if a design pushes limits.

Light scratches are normal handling marks. Deep gouges are not acceptable and should be reported immediately.

  • Etching: shallow surface marking

  • Engraving: deeper, more permanent marking
