Tread plate, also known as checker plate or Durbar plate, is designed to provide increased slip resistance while maintaining structural strength and durability. At LGM Engineering, we laser cut and fold both aluminium checker plate and steel Durbar plate for industrial, commercial, and access-related applications where safety and robustness are critical.
Aluminium checker plate is commonly used where weight reduction and corrosion resistance are important, such as walkways, covers, vehicle components, and protective panels. Durbar steel plate offers greater strength and impact resistance, making it suitable for heavy-duty flooring, platforms, steps, and industrial access equipment. The raised pattern provides consistent grip while allowing for accurate fabrication and installation.
Both materials are processed in-house using fibre laser cutting and CNC press brake forming to achieve accurate profiles and clean edges while preserving the integrity of the raised pattern. Material selection is guided by load requirements, environmental exposure, and finish expectations to ensure long-term performance in service.
If you are unsure whether aluminium checker plate or steel Durbar plate is most suitable for your application, our team can advise based on strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and fabrication requirements.
